SABGC SCHOLARSHIP 

POWERED BY DICKS SPORTING GOODS

The primary objective of the SABGC Scholarship, powered by Dicks Sporting Goods, is to offer talented young golfers the opportunity to combine academic excellence and a passion for golf. We seek to empower young athletes who demonstrate the potential to excel both on the golf course and in their studies.

Eligibility

The scholarship will be open to all SABGC youth members who are actively pursuing or striving for golf excellence. To be eligible, applicants must be members of the Sacramento Area Black Golf Club for at least one year continuously.

Scholarship Application Process 

Interested applicants must complete the following steps:

Submit a written statement outlining their golf goals, academic ambitions, aspirations to play golf competitively in the future and a request for a golf club fitting, training, coaching, or any additional support required to foster the recipients' growth as a golfer.

Also, express what winning this scholarship would mean to them and how it would contribute to their journey as a better golfer.

Scholarship Selection Criteria

The selection committee will review the applications and select the most deserving candidates based on the following criteria: (Point breakdown can be found below)

 Dedication to golf and commitment to excellence.
 Academic achievements.
 Financial need.
 Quality of the written statement.

Scholarship Benefits

The chosen recipient(s) will receive a financial scholarship tailored to golf development, designed to enhance their skills and provide ongoing support for their golfing aspirations.

Scholarship Value

The scholarship value will depend on available funding and resources.

SABGC APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

I. Membership Status (5 Points)

Applicants must indicate whether they are already a member of SABGC.

II. Scholarship Data (10 Points)

Applicants must provide the following documents:

A. Two letters of recommendation (1) from a community member, counselor, or
department head and (1) from a tenured member of SABGC. 
B. Copy of the high school transcript. (If Applicable)
C. ACT or SAT test score (for 12th graders only).
D. Letter of acceptance from an accredited college or university (for 12th graders
only).

III. Organization Activities (5 Points)

Applicants should indicate their local club participation.

IV. Community Activities (5 Points)

Applicants should indicate their involvement in community or employment activities.

V. Brief Paragraph (10 Points)

Applicants should write a brief paragraph describing why they believe they should be considered for this scholarship. Submit below.

Bonus Points 

Attending The Black Invitational either as a participant or a volunteer will earn applicants 20 bonus points.
